Udupi, Jan 21: Pangala Gopalakrishna Nayak, a 92-year-old individual from the renowned Nayak family of Katapadi, fulfilled a noble wish even in death by donating his mortal remains to KMC Manipal.

The son of freedom fighter Pangala Laxminarayana Nayak, Gopalakrishna Nayak led a simple life in accordance with the principles of Mahatma Gandhi. Unmarried, he managed the popular Nayak Ayurvedashram in Katapadi, adhering to a lifestyle that embraced Khadi clothing and simple, indigenous food. Nayak was passionate about nature, regularly safeguarding trees and plants in Katapadi, and was actively involved in the freedom struggle alongside his legendary father.

Fond of Ayurveda and classical music, Pangala Gopalakrishna Nayak is survived by his brother Dr. Pangala Seetharama Nayak, two sisters, and numerous friends and relatives. In accordance with his wishes, his mortal remains were donated to KMC Manipal.

Kaup MLA Suresh Shetty, former MLA Lalaji R Mendon, M D Kini, Satyendra Pai, Prem Kumar, and Prabha B paid their respects to Nayak and expressed their condolences.
