Agra, Sep 17: An explosion rocked a hospital here on Saturday September 17 evening, injuring at least three.

The explosion, which went off at the reception area of Jai Hospital was of low-intensity, police said.

Some reports put the number of injured at eight. No casualty has been reported yet.

"It appears the explosive was kept under a seat at the hospital's reception area," Special Director General of Police Brij Lal told reporters.

He also informed that Anti-Terrorist Squad and bomb disposal squads have been rushed to the spot.

The nature of the explosion is yet to be ascertained, but preliminary investigations suggested the use of crude bomb, sources said.

"We will be able to confirm about the nature of explosion on the basis of forensic reports," said Inspector General of Police P K Tiwari said.

He further informed that none of the three injured is critical. All the three are being treated at the S N Medical College, and those undergoing treatment at Jai Hospital are being shifted to other nursing homes, he added.

Tiwari refuted media reports that the explosive was kept inside a tiffin recovered from the reception area.

"The tiffin we recovered was empty. We cannot link the explosion with the tiffin that probably belonged to the hospital staff or a patient's attendant," he said.

Security at the Taj Mahal and other places has been beefed up in the city.
