Bengaluru, Jan 27: JDS supremo H D Deve Gowda’s elder son, H D Revanna’s son and JDS MLC Suraj Kumar called on deputy chief minister D K Shivakumar at his official residence in Kumara Krupa on Saturday.

Shivakumar and Suraj Kumar held discussions in private, the details of which were not available.

Both Shivakumar as well Suraj Kumar refused to give details of the meeting, which has been described merely as courtesy call.

After former BJP chief minister Jagadish Shettar, who was made Congress MLC after his defeat as a Congress candidate in the assembly polls, had jumped over to BJP to ‘’strengthen Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s hands and work for his election for the third term in Lok Sabha polls,’’ speculation was rife that BJP would lure more Congress leaders, especially former deputy chief minister Lakshman Savadi.

Even as Shettar defected back to BJP, Shivakumar ensured that Savadi would stay in the party and held one-to-one discussions with the latter at his residence.

The KPCC chief said the Congress party would respond to the situation in the coming days and refused to divulge details.

Meanwhile, BJP leaders, particularly former chief minister B S Yediyurappa and his son B Y Vijayendra, who is the present State BJP president and BJP opposition leader R Ashok and others are, busy luring MLAs and other influential leaders from the Congress party.

With Lok Sabha elections due in April or May, the political situation is likely to get hot in the coming days.
