Kundapur, Feb 2: The concluding session of the workshop, organized by the Karnataka Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Department, district administration, ITDP, and Koraga organizations, focused on the preparation of bamboo baskets at Padukone. Deputy commissioner Dr Vidyakumari highlighted the growing significance of such crafts in addressing the plastic menace.
“These products have a market, and I will make efforts to provide raw materials at the departmental level,” she stated.
Nada gram panchayat president Parvati presided over the programme, with Panchayat members Rajiv Padukone, Shobha, Mamatha, ITDP Udupi officer Dood Pir, trainers Babu and Deepa Koraga, leaders Ganesh Kumbhashi of Koraga Shreyobhivridhi Sangha Kundapur, and local leader Arvind Poojary in attendance.
Byndoor MLA Gururaj Gantihole graced the program with his presence.
Arun B from the District Skill Development Department provided an introduction, while workshop participants Ganesh Barkur, Asmita, Sunanda, and Chandrakala shared their perspectives on behalf of the workshop attendees.
The deputy commissioner distributed certificates to the participants, and members of the Koraga community requested caste certificates. Nagaraj extended a warm welcome and served as the compere for the program.
