Udupi, Feb 4: The latest technology - automated time gate and photo finish result systems, for the Kambala race was successfully implemented at Aikala Kambala event.
The technology worth Rs 10 lacs, which was sponsored by Adani Foundation, was jointly inaugurated at Aikala Kambala by Kota Srinivasa Poojary, leader of opposition of Karnataka Legislative Council, Dr M N Rajendra Kumar, president of Karnataka State Cooperative Marketing Federation and chairman of SCDCC Bank Kishore Alva, executive director and president of Adani Group and Dr Devi Prasad Shetty, president of Jilla Kambala Samiti, Udupi, Dakshina Kannada and Kasaragod.
Speaking on the occasion, Kishore Alva informed that Adani under its CSR activities aim for the promotion of rural sports and Kambala having a historical importance and traditional rural sport in the coastal terrain, has been supported by Adani Group for its promotion.
He said the newly introduced automated time gate facility and photo finish facilities at Aikala Kambala was successful and it is a matter of pride for all the Kambala organisers and Kambala lovers.
The innovative technology enables organisers to reduce the time at the start point of race and facilitates fetching the results at end point with fast and accuracy, he said.
While applauding the thought process of Kambala organisers to give a hi-tech touch to Kambala, Alva expressed that Kambala should compete at international level.
Later, Kota Srinivasa Poojary informed that the Aikala Kambalotsava is celebrated every year with grandeur and this time the Kambala sport has become more amazing with the adoption of modern technology.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Rajendra Kumar said that the sport of Kambala has already made its mark in the coastal region as well as in the capital of the state, and by adopting innovative systems in association with the Adani Group, Kambala should make its mark in the country and abroad in the coming days.
Dr Devi Prasad Shetty, on behalf of all Kambala organisers, thanked Adani Foundation and Adani Group’s executive director Kishore Alva for extending the support for promotion of Kambala with latest technology in the coastal terrain.
