Udupi, Feb 7: Hindu Janajagruthi Committee in association with Karnataka Temple-Math and Religious Institutions Association will hold a district-level temples council meet on February 11 at the Udupi Madhav Krishna Sabhabhavan of Kidioor Hotel.
Chandru Mogaveer, state convener of Hindu Janajagruthi Committee told reporters here on Wednesday, February 7, “District conference will be held on February 11 from 10 am to 5 pm. Trustees of different temples in Udupi taluk, priests and advocates of temples will take part in the event. More than 200 representatives will take part in the event. To free the temple from government control and to preserve the purity of temple and also the dress code to be followed in temples will be discussed on dress code were discussed. Since last six months as many as 275 temples have enforced dress code. Only temples are under government control while no church or masjid is controlled by the government, so we will fight against it.”
Ramesh Karnik, president, Kevarse Mahalingeshwara Temple, said,“Protecting our country is not only limited to borders, Our culturally and most importantly temples should be protected. There is a need to build spiritualism in temples."
The event will be inaugurated by Adamaru Math Swamiji and Kaniyooru Math Swamiji. Raviraj Acharya, Vedavyas Acharya. Rajshekar Hebbar of Sharada Residency School will be present in the meet.
Rajesh Shet, joint trustee of Laxmivenkatesha Temple, Ambagil Puttur, Vishwanath Nayak, Udupi district committee and others were present.
