Mangaluru, Feb 9: In response to the recent incident in Lucknow on February 5, wherein Fr Dominic Pinto, regional youth director of Agra Region, was inadvertently apprehended, leading this demonstration of solidarity, the Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) Karnataka region organized an ‘Online Rosary’ dedicated to Fr Dominic.
Under the leadership of regional director Fr Lourd Raj and youth president Sanjay D’Souza, the ‘Online Rosary’ was convened on February 7. This gathering aimed to convene youths from across Karnataka in a collective moment of prayer for Fr Dominic's well-being. Approximately one hundred young individuals participated, both digitally and in person. Concurrently, groups assembled in several Karnataka parishes to offer prayers specifically for Fr Dominic Pinto.
The ICYM Mangalore diocese youth took responsibility for orchestrating the online prayer gathering, led by Fr Ashwin Cardoza, the diocesan youth director. Following the prayer session led by Fr Cardoza, the participants engaged in a reflective discourse. Upon its conclusion, Sanjay D’Souza, the ICYM Karnataka regional president, expressed sincere appreciation to all participants. Additionally, he extended felicitations on the occasion of ICYM day and paid homage to the patron saint, St Gonzalo Garcia.
Special commendation was bestowed upon Fr Ashwin Cardoza and president Mithesh D’Souza of ICYM Mangalore diocese for their proactive role in facilitating the offline prayer gathering within the diocese.
