Mangaluru, Feb 15: In a move towards fostering global academic excellence, the International Collaboration Cell of St Aloysius (Deemed to be University) ‘Education Trade Mission – Opportunities & Support for International Studies’, event was held on Wednesday, February 14. This interactive session saw the convergence of officials from 17 esteemed universities across the United States of America (USA), marking a historic milestone in cross-continental collaboration.
The representatives from universities namely University of San Diego was represented by Andre Mallige, City University of Seattle represented by Antonio Esqueda Flores and Keerti Kaluri, State University of New York, Buffalo represented by Brigid Kennesaw State University, Catholic University of America represented by Aanshika, University of Arkansas by Andrew Van Lew and Dr Aloia, Goerge Washington University by Julisa Dixon and Shivraj, University of Wisconsin, Stout by Anagha Pednekar, Park University by Kevin Vicker, St Mary’s University, Texas by Anne Faucett, University of Texas, San Antonio, Pennsylvania College of Technology by Antony Pace, Marymount University, University of Utah David Eccles School of Business by Ashish Sutar, and St Louis University by Aryaman Panwar.
The event commenced with a tour of the iconic St Aloysius Chapel, where the delegates were immersed in the rich heritage and intricate paintings by Jesuit brother Antonio Moscheni, setting the tone for a cultural exchange of profound significance.
Transitioning to the Mother Teresa Peace Park, the representatives engaged in an interactive session with over 300 students, providing invaluable insights into higher education prospects and forging meaningful connections with the next generation of scholars. The overwhelming response from students, who flocked to the university counters in droves, reflected the palpable enthusiasm for international academic pursuits.
Following a brief respite, the delegates convened at the Sanidhya Hall of the Administrative Block, where Dr Denis Fernandes, director of Arrupe block, extended a gracious welcome to the gathering.
Dr Renita D’Souza, a distinguished faculty member, compered the programme, facilitating interactions throughout the event.
Fr Dr Melwyn D’Cunha, dean of the research and development cell, briefed on the institution's illustrious legacy, infrastructural prowess, and transformative journey to Deemed University status. His comprehensive briefing encompassed the college’s ethos, achievements, and future endeavours, shedding light on the vibrant student culture and forthcoming projects poised to redefine educational paradigms.
The delegates were further acquainted with Aloysius' innovation ecosystem, library facilities, sustainable initiatives, and cultural ethos, laying the groundwork for fruitful collaborations in the days to come.
Department-wise interactions ensued in the Sanidhya Hall and Conference Hall, fostering the exchange of best practices, academic initiatives, and shared visions for the future of education.
As the event drew to a close, delegates shared their poignant reflections and expressed optimism about the burgeoning partnership with Aloysius Institutions.
