Udupi: Student jumps to death after being caught using mobile phone during exam

Udupi, Feb 17: A student, caught using a mobile phone during an examination, tragically took his own life by jumping from his classroom at a college in Manipal on Friday, February 16.

The deceased has been identified as Sathyam Suman (20), a native of Bihar.

The incident occurred during an ongoing examination in the college on Friday afternoon. Suman was found using a mobile phone, in violation of examination rules, by an invigilator. Upon being caught, he was asked to leave the examination hall. Overwhelmed by distress at being caught, Suman made the tragic decision to leap from the sixth floor of the college, resulting in his death.

A case has been filed in connection with the incident at the Manipal police station.

    Very sad .Süecially for Parents a shock to know that they have spent so much money and struggle him to educate and hoped .Anyone who is not made efforts to study and appear for exams ,better not appear for exams,anyway not the way this student did.Be fair and not by mean ways.May his soul rest in peace.Hertfelt sympathy to his family.

    RIP Sathyam, many condolences to his parents and family, it is a terrible tragedy. Too much pressure on students starting from kg, they must be taught how to cope with pressure, failing/ low grades doesn't mean the end of the world. As for invigilator and institute, they are just following rules which they have to do without fail, they too are sure to be extremely distressed at this tragic incident.

    Yes. Keeping the consequences in mind. Teacher should confiscate the mobile. And then alow him to write exam. Hope this would be fare justice for both colege and student. Debaring is not solution unles they dont listen or fight back.
