Feb 24, 2024: "Article 370" clocks in at a hefty 2 hours and 40 minutes, Director Aditya Suhas Jambhale's well-made film, but its pacing might test your patience. While the first half meticulously sets the stage, it drags at times. Thankfully, the second half picks up the pace, weaving a suspenseful drama with predictable, yet satisfying twists.
The cast shines, particularly the two female leads who carry the film. Priya Mani delivers a nuanced performance as the resourceful joint secretary at the PMO, masterminding the abrogation of Article 370. Yami Gautam portrays Zooni, a determined officer haunted by a tragic past. While her character draws comparisons to the "arrogant hero" trope common in Bollywood action films, her deep love for Kashmir propels the narrative forward. While her repeated last-minute saves can become predictable, they ultimately solidify her image as an unstoppable force.
Overall, "Article 370" is a well-crafted film with strong performances, but its lengthy runtime and predictable plot points might not be for everyone. If you're looking for a suspenseful drama with clear-cut heroes and villains, this film might be worth your time.
