Mangaluru, Feb 25: Goods worth lacs of rupees were destroyed when a house in Munda, Sasihitlu area on the outskirts of the city, caught fire.
The victim whose house was burnt is identified as Sharada Mohan, a local resident of Munda. She resides with her son and younger brother in the house.
She had left for her daily wage labour work when the incident occurred. The tiled house suddenly caught fire resulting in complete devastation.
Upon receiving information about the fire incident from the local residents, J Krishna Kotian from Haleangadi promptly took action and attempted to extinguish the flames by pouring water from a tanker.
Later, the fire service personnel arrived at the scene and successfully prevented the fire from spreading to nearby houses.
