Udupi, Feb 26: "Police work was very easy when there was no technical knowledge including mobile and social media. But now times have changed. Due to the digital revolution, the police are facing a lot of challenges,” said CID DGP Dr MA Salim.
He was speaking while inaugurating the silver jubilee ceremony of the 1999 batch police personnel of the Udupi District Armed Reserve Force held at United Basel Mission Jubilee Church Hall, Udupi Mission Compound.
He said that it is a good development that talented and skilled police officers and staff are being appointed to the police department to fight crime and problems effectively.
"Today there are special changes in the police system and accordingly our working methods have also changed. Coast guard and anti-naxal squad are working in Udupi district today along with district police. This allows the police to have a more intimate relationship with the public," he said.
Udupi district superintendent of police Dr Arun K presided over. Additional superintendent of police S T Siddalingappa, probationary superintendent of police Dr Harsha Priyamvada, retired estate manager of MAHE Manipal Jaivithal, architect Simon were present.
The teachers who trained the 1999 batch were felicitated. A memento was distributed to all the teams of 1999 batch on the occasion of silver jubilee. Tributes were paid to the deceased team members.
DAR AHC Virendra Shetty welcomed. AHC Raghavendra spoke in introduction. Sudhakar Ermal congratulated. A music concert by Rabindra Prabhu troupe, dance performance by Bhargavi troupe Udupi and Ashok Polali, film performance by Sridevi Kiran Mangalore, Yaksha Nritya Vaibhav program by 99th batch staff Krishnaiah Devadiga was also held on the occasion.
