Mangalore: BJP Activist Run Over by Train

Mangalore, Sep 26: Navin Naik (37), a BJP activist from Kasargod district, was crushed under a train at the central railway station here on the night of Sunday September 25.

Navin, a resident of Koodlu Ramdas Nagar in Kasargod, had come to the city on some work. As there were no buses to return to Kasargod at that time, he rushed to the central railway station. The West Coast Express train had just begun its onward journey at its scheduled departure time of 9.45 pm, when Naik reached the station. He ran alongside the train and tried to board it, but his leg slipped and he fell down. The wheels of the train moved over his head.

Navin Naik was the general secretary of BJP Mogralputtur unit in Kasargod district. A case was registered by the railway police relating to the accident.
