From dentist to IAS officer to educator: The inspiring journey of Tanu Jain

New Delhi, Mar 8: Tanu Jain's career journey is indeed a remarkable one, marked by courage, determination, and a passion for making a difference in society. Starting as a dental doctor, she ventured into the highly competitive arena of civil services, eventually transitioning from being an accomplished IAS officer to becoming a dedicated teacher.

Born and raised in the Sadar area of Delhi, Tanu received her education at Cambridge School before pursuing her BDS degree from Subharti Medical College. Even during her dental studies, she harboured aspirations of serving the nation through the civil services and began preparing for the UPSC examinations alongside her academic pursuits.

Her journey towards becoming an IAS officer was not without its challenges. Tanu encountered setbacks, such as failing in her first attempt at the mains. However, undeterred by initial failures, she persevered, eventually achieving a commendable rank of 648 in her third attempt in 2014.

As an IAS officer, Tanu Jain made significant contributions to society, earning respect for her dedicated service and commitment to social welfare. However, after seven successful years in the civil services, she made the bold decision to leave her prestigious position and pursue a career in teaching on a full-time basis.

Reflecting on her journey, Tanu acknowledges the hurdles she faced during her UPSC preparation and empathizes with the challenges aspirants encounter. Her decision to transition into teaching stems from a desire to support and guide aspiring civil servants through their own journeys.

Supported by her husband, who is also an IAS officer, Tanu embraced the risks and challenges of charting a new career path, finding fulfillment and happiness in her decision to follow her passion for education and mentorship.

Today, Tanu Jain continues to inspire others with her story of resilience, determination, and the courage to pursue one's dreams despite obstacles. Through her teaching, motivational speaking, writing, and social service, she leaves a lasting impact on the lives of those she encounters, embodying the spirit of service and leadership.
