New Delhi, Mar 8: Sudha Murthy, the philanthropist, and chairperson of The Murty Trust, has been nominated to Rajya Sabha by President Draupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in a social media post on March 8.

PM Modi announced the nomination of renowned philanthropist and social worker Sudha Murthy to the Rajya Sabha. The Prime Minister commended Murty's contributions across various fields, including social work, philanthropy, and education, which he described as 'immense and inspiring'.

In a post on X, PM Modi wrote, “I am delighted that the President of India has nominated @SmtSudhaMurty Ji to the Rajya Sabha. Sudha Ji's contributions to diverse fields including social work, philanthropy and education have been immense and inspiring. Her presence in the Rajya Sabha is a powerful testament to our 'Nari Shakti', exemplifying the strength and potential of women in shaping our nation's destiny. Wishing her a fruitful Parliamentary tenure."

How much percentage of her profit she gives to poor or to the cursed corrupt party which is famous for bypassing govt rules and regulations and giving subsidies and forgetting loans of cursed crony capitalists. Now godhra khoon ka saudagar scared of his pm care fund being exposed and losing all money. So he is begging these to join his party expecting some views of cursed blind bakths who knows that this lady shows off her charity work has already got her reward on earth. If she wants eternal reward she has to do charity in secret and give off like the lady who have one billion dollars to an poor University. Not rich looting racists universities here. When I read the comments here, I am wondering if these guys went to school or did not read newspapers. What is the problem with Sudha Murty as President hypothetically as being suggested- I am not sure there is a proposition and if it were, no sure she will accept it but anyway. Will she be worse than Gyani Zail Singh, Pratibha Patil or the likes? OK if caste is the eligibility, what is the issue with current president? Most had difficulty accepting her as president. Last but not least, what it this fixation with the position of President? Did we lose the fact that it is ceremonial position? And regarding Sudha Murthy being member of RS, what is the issue? Does it have to be a Muslim and Christian surname for it to be celebrated as a secular decision? Your problem is not logic but unknown DNA behind hatred of Modi and hence my support to Narendra Damodardas Modi. Is baar bi banega Modi sarkar.

The appointment could have been commendable if not for her caste. The prevailing system, rooted in patriarchy and inherent discrimination against women and individuals from lower castes, raises concerns. A more inclusive and representative choice would have been someone from the OBC or Dalit community, considering they constitute a significant 73% of India's population.

Well, one of the matured Kannadiga Karnataka has produced. I grew up seeing on TV the ad, "the greatness of this man is his simplicity" about the father of nation. She is the living example of that. We do not remember the extravagant marriage of their daughter to the current PM of Britain did we? We never got to experience her net worth through a media blitz unless someone is having ups and downs of share market in his DNA. And another attribute which my colleague said once about participation of upper echelons of Infosys in a program that my friend attended. He himself drove an expensive car to the event. The expensive car the Murthy's reached there was Toyota Innovas and Honda City. Long story short...nomination with which we all can identify with.

Sudha Murthy has done a lot of philanthropic work across India, more particularly in Karnataka. She is a very simple woman. She could have chosen a lavish life because of her husband's wealth. But she has chosen public service. You know about wives of some other billionaires of this country, what kind of life they lead. In Karnataka she is known as AMMA. It is vary sad to know some negative comments about her, just because Modi Govt has chosen her. I congratulate AMMA. I also thank Modi for choosing personalities like Sudha Murthy, Veerendra Heggade, PT Usha, Ilaya Raja etc. Once upon a time, RS was full of businessmen.

What we need in RS is someone who speaks for people and push to jot down policies that improves lives of people and democracy. Ms. Murthy has done lot to the society by charity. But, with favors from BJP, can she stand for the people and with the people? This is the real question. A strong personality would have raised the issue of Manipur or Wrestlers. But, her silence was defaening. Possibly that silence has earned this cap, which is really not worth it, for her, as she has better caps already.
