Bantwal, Sep 30: A truck driver died in an accident at B C Road here on Friday September 30 morning.

The deceased has been identified as 53-year-old Mohammed, a resident of Talapady in Mangalore.

Mohammed used to transport sand on his truck. On Friday, he unloaded the sand at Goodinabail and then took his truck to a nearby garage to fix it. Once done with the repairs, he was on his way but when he reached Rickshaw Bhavan, a community building located on Mangalore-Bangalore national highway near B C Road, he lost control of the vehicle and plunged into a gorge on the side of the road.

The body was shifted to Bantwal Government Hospital. It is said that a cardiac arrest while driving or a major technical failure with the truck could have been the reason for the accident.

Bantwal town police registered a case in this regard.
