Kundapura, Mar 19: "I am proud that the Congress government has reached 91% of the people in the state through guarantees. We seek votes in the current election based on our achievements," said minister of education, Madhu Bangarappa. He made these remarks at a news conference held at Kundapura Patrika Bhavan on Tuesday, March 19.
"Politicians typically approach elections in two ways. While some focus on caste and religion, others appeal to sentiments. Congress has never approached elections based on caste and religion. Instead, Congress understands the feelings of the people and strives to address their needs. The party has earned the faith and trust of the people by fulfilling all five guarantees promised by it," he explained.
"Across the country, people desire political change. In Udupi, despite winning elections twice and showcasing her achievements, people have asked Shobha Karandlaje to step down. The accomplishments of Shivamogga MP Raghavendra are negligible. Congress will easily win the Shivamogga constituency in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. I was previously with JD(S) and am proud to have joined Congress. Had I remained with JD(S), I would have had to deal with the consequences of aligning with the communal BJP. My sister, Geeta Shivaraj Kumar, will contest in the Shivamogga Lok Sabha constituency. The state government's guarantees and the people-centric work of former Chief Minister Bangarappa will align with Congress," he added.
District Congress president Ashok Kumar Kodavoor, former MLA K Gopala Poojary, former MLA Sukumar Shetty, various block presidents including Arvind Poojary, Pradeep Kumar Shetty Gudibettu, G A Bava, Raju Poojary, Ashok Poojary Beejadi, and others were present.
On the occasion, the journalist association submitted a request to the government for the construction of a well-equipped press club in Kundapura.
