Mangalore, Oct 1: Vehicular traffic at the busy Mahakalipadpu railway level crossing in the city came to a grinding halt, after the railway gate at the level crossing got jammed at around 8 pm on Friday September 29.

Road users have often complained about unending delays because of the frequent closing of the gates at this level crossing here since long. An over bridge as demanded, is yet to come up at the spot.  On Friday, however, a new problem cropped up because of technical snag in the gate operation. The gate, which was closed at around 8 pm, could not be opened again after a train passed the gate.

The problem was resolved after about an hour. Railway traffic however, remained unhindered.
