Mumbai: Charkop Kannadigara Balaga Organizes Annual ‘Sharada Puja’

Mumbai, Oct 7: Charkop Kannadigara Balaga, Kandivali ® organized the annual Sharada ‘puja’ and annual day celebrations at Ek Veer High School hall, Sector 1, Charkop, Kandivali (West), recently.

Jayasrikrishna Parisara Premi Samiti (JSKPPS) founder president Tonse Jayakrishna A Shetty presided over the celebrations.

Swami Vijayanand of Anand Ashram, Bailahongala, Bevinakoppa, in Karnataka graced the occasion.



Speaking on the occasion, Swami Vijayanand said that India is a nation of traditions. “Indian culture has to be the focus of everyone and it will be sustained provided one lets go of ego,” said Swami Vijayanand.

Jayakrishna Shetty lauded the service of Charkop Kannadigara Balaga in setting a stage for all Kannadigas’ settled in suburban Kandivali (W) to promote Kannada and its distinct culture in the metro.

MLA Gopal C Shetty assured them that he would try his best to allot a plot for construction of an auditorium for Charkop Kannadigara Balaga.

VHP president Polya Umesh Shetty, Mogaveer Co-operative Bank president Kirtiraj K Salian, entrepreneur and social worker Prakash G Bhat, Bhandary Seva Samiti president Balakrishna P Bhandary, and Mathrabhoomi Co-operative Credit Society vice-president Ratnakar Shetty were the guests of honour on the occasion.

Social activist and Veera Kesari Kala Vranda president Payyaru Ramesh Shetty (entrepreneur) was awarded the Adyar Nandiguttu Timmappa Shetty Memorial Award, Karnataka Rajyotsav Award winner Tonse Vijay Kumar Shetty (drama) was presented with K K Suvarna Memorial Award, and veteran stage artiste Vimala Bhat (drama) was presented with Bharati Kodlekar Memorial Award, during the programme.

Scholarships were distributed to the meritorious students on the same occasion.   

Balaga president Bhaskar Sarapady, office-bearers Shanta Bhat, Manjunat Bannoor, M S Rao, Lata Bangera, Sadashiv C Poojary, Veena Sarapady, Chandrashekar, Padmavati Shetty, Dr N G Bhat, Jaya C Shetty, and Veena K Shetty were present on the occasion.

Bhaskar Sarapady welcomed the gathering.  Honorary chief secretary M D Rao delivered the introductory address.  Joint secretary Raghunat N Shetty compered the programme.  Secretary Vijaya D Poojary proposed the vote of thanks.
