Mangaluru: Tensions flare as BJP members, devotees clash near Sai Baba Mandir in Chilimbi

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Apr 18: A heated exchange erupted between BJP and devotees during a campaign event near Sai Baba Mandir in Chilimbi. The incident unfolded amidst a large gathering of devotees who had assembled at the mandir to celebrate Ram Navami.

According to reports, BJP commenced their campaign at the Sai Baba Mandir, prompting objections from mandir trustee Vishwas Das, who asserted that no political parties were permitted to campaign near the sacred premises.

The disagreement escalated into a verbal altercation between the two sides, leading to intervention from MLA Vedavyas Kamath and Congress leader Mithun Rai in an attempt to defuse the situation.

Police were subsequently called to the scene to restore order and bring the situation under control.
