Mumbai, Oct 10: The city's Mahila Congress Convention was held at Bhaidas Hall in Vile Parle (West) on Monday October 10. MLA Krishna Hegde's Constitute - Congress leaders attended the convention.
At the convention, AICC secretary and MP, Priya Dutt said, "Congress has given RTI to the people which is a tool to expose corruption. All the scams exposed have been done through the power of RTI."
“The persons who get tickets and those who don’t should also come together as one force to win the elections” said Kripashankar Singh, president of Mumbai Congress.
“RSS is backing Anna Hazare and funding his campaign, we have to inquire as to who foot the food and other bills of 35,000 volunteers of Anna Hazare for 15 days of his fast” said Gurudas Kamat, MP and former Union Minister.
“It was Rajiv Gandhi who gave 33% reservations to women in local bodies and Smt. Sonia Gandhi has now empowered women by making 50% in local Government bodies” said Krishna Tirath, Union Minister of State.
Union Cabinet Minister Kumari Selja complimented the Congress women activists for having such a programme and asked all women to work for the candidate who got the ticket and ensure victory of the Congress party.
“The policies of the Central Government and the Maharashtra Government should reach the people and I request you not to distribute tickets within families but to good party workers who are capable of winning elections” said Anita Verma, President All India Mahila Congress.
Present at the convention were Union Cabinet Minister Kumari Selja, Union Minister of State Krishna Tirath, Priya Dutt AICC Secretary – incharge of Mahila Congress and MP, All India Mahila Congress President Anita Verma, former Union Minister and MP Gurudas Kamat, Mumbai Congress Chief Kripashankar Singh, Eknath Gaikwad (MP), Maharashtra Ministers Suresh Shetty and Varsha Gaikwad, MLC Dipti Chaudhary, MLAs – Baldev Khosa, Baba Siddiqui, Ashok Jadhav and local MLA Krishna Hegde.
