Udupi: Undertrial prisoner dies of cardiac arrest at Hiriadka sub-jail

Udupi, May 12: Anoop Shetty (38), an undertrial prisoner held at Hiriyadka sub-jail in the district, passed away due to a cardiac arrest on the evening of Saturday May 11.

Anoop experienced chest pain that evening while in the prison, and he died while being transported to the hospital. He had been accused in the murder of Ajendra Shetty, a financier from Kundapur, and had been incarcerated for over two-and-a-half years.

SP Dr. Arun Kumar stated, “The accused, Anoop, complained of chest pain on Saturday evening. The jail staff, upon receiving the information, promptly arranged for his transfer to the hospital. However, he passed away en route.”
