New Delhi, Sep 9: One person was killed and four others injured after an oxygen cylinder exploded near a community hall in Delhi’s Okhla Phase-1 on Wednesday, officials said.
The incident was reported at around 11.55 am, following which three fire tenders and a multi-casualty first responder vehicle were rushed to the spot. Police and rescue teams also reached the site.
The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital in CATS ambulances for treatment. The identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained.
The cause of the oxygen cylinder explosion remains unclear. Police have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances that led to the incident.
In a separate incident earlier, two people sustained serious burn injuries after a small LPG cylinder exploded at a jhuggi in Delhi’s Vivek Vihar area on Sunday.
The blast occurred at Jhuggi No 11 behind the Vivek Vihar police station under the CBD Shahdara jurisdiction. The injured, identified as Anil Das, 35, son of Hari Narayana, and his wife Khushboo, 30, were rushed to Rajiv Gandhi Hospital by a PCR vehicle.
Both suffered around 60 per cent burn injuries. Following the incident, two fire tenders and a water bowser were deployed at the spot.
