Shakira Wraps Up World Tour in Puerto Rico

San Juan, Oct 16 (IANS/EFE): Colombian pop star Shakira has given the first of two concerts in Puerto Rico that will end her globetrotting world tour "Sale el Sol" (The Sun Comes Out) after more than a year of performances on five continents.

The artist made her entrance in a pink gown Friday night, greeting her fans as she crossed the arena of San Juan's Jose M. Agrelot Coliseum and singing "Pienso en Ti" (I'm Thinking of You), then went onstage, tossed away her dress and went on with the show wearing a tiny gold top and skintight black pants.

Shakira, 34, continued her concert before more than 14,000 people with "Anos Luz" (Light Years), then spoke directly to the thousands of fans crowding the San Juan Coliseum.

"Good evening, Puerto Rico. What a joy it is being here! Thanks so much for letting me offer you some happiness too and I hope you have a good time and enjoy yourselves. Puerto Rico, tonight I'm all yours," the South American star said.

The current girlfriend of Spanish soccer club Barcelona player Gerard Pique continued with "Si Te Vas" (If You Go) and "Suerte" (Luck), then invited five young people onstage to sing and dance with her.

The recently named member of the White House advisory council on Hispanic education continued her repertoire singing "Inevitable" and the hit tune of the US metal band Metallica "Nothing Else Matters", but with a style totally Latin.

Shakira went on with the Saturday night show in San Juan with "Gitana" (Gypsy), "La Tortura" (Torture) and "Ciega Sordomuda" (Blind Deaf and Dumb), one of the first hits of her career.
