Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (MS)

Mangaluru, May 17: A man circulated false information on social media regarding the insurance status of a highway patrol vehicle with registration number KA 19 G 1023, which was on duty at Kuntikan on May 16. He falsely claimed that the vehicle's insurance had expired and accused the police department of using uninsured vehicles.

The police department has clarified that this information is incorrect. In a press release, the department stated, "All police vehicles have mandatory insurance from the Karnataka Government Insurance Department (KGID), which is renewed regularly. No vehicle with expired insurance is used for duty. The insurance for the vehicle KA 19 G 1023 is valid until October 13, 2025, and the emission certificate is valid until January 8, 2025."

Additionally, the man failed to show the emission certificate for his own bike and was fined Rs 500 for the offence.
