Mumbai, May 18: Mulky Raghunandan Srinivas Kamath (70), founder of Natural Ice Cream located in Charkop, Kandivili West, passed away on the night of May 17 at H N Reliance Foundation Hospital on Cherny Road after a brief illness.

Raghunandan Kamath, who resided in his own house at Four Bungalows in Andheri West, was originally from Adyar in Mangaluru. He was the CEO of Times Ice Creams Private Limited. Kamath was recognized in the Limca Book of Records through Natural Ice Cream (Ice Cream of Juhu Scheme) located in Charkop, Kandivili West. His ice cream business expanded throughout India and into overseas markets.

Kamath is survived by his wife, two sons, and numerous relatives and well-wishers. Family sources indicated that a decision regarding his final rites will be made soon. Kamath was a senior leader of the GSB community and a philanthropist.

Raghunandan Kamath was trained under the strict administrative environment of his elder brother, G S Kamath. Known for his high standards, Kamath introduced innovation in ice cream manufacturing, establishing a strong reputation in the industry.

Bappanadu Sri Durga Parameshwari Kshethra, located on the banks of the holy Shambavi River near Mulky, is a small village. Raghunandan Kamath was the youngest of eight children born to Srinivas Kamath, renowned as Ambe Mamu in Puttur, and Shanta Bai, also known as Anasuya.

Raghunandan studied up to seventh grade in his native village. As he was not strong in academics, he left school and moved to Mumbai, where he attended NKES School. However, his interest in academics remained low, so he began working at Gokul Ice Cream, owned by his elder brother G S Kamath.

In 1983, Raghunandan Kamath married a woman from a well-respected family in Saccheripete. His wife, a member of the undivided Kamath family, brought happiness into his life.

Mr Ragunandan Kamath was an enterprising man from South Kanara. He was experimenting continously on ice cream flavours. His inspiration for doing it was from his experience in his childhood. He took pride in expelling his tory and showing around the factory. In his passing we have lost an enterprising man who spread the sweetness in a most natural way.
