Mangaluru, Jun 2: On the occasion of his second death anniversary, renowned Konkani litterateur and poet CGS Taccode was remembered by the Konkani literary fraternity along with his family members.

Daiji Dubai Mangaluru and Kavita Trust jointly organized the event, which was held at Don Bosco Hall, Mangaluru, on Saturday, June 1.

Welcoming the gathering, Kishoo Barkoor, President of Kavita Trust, said, "The massive literary contribution of CGS Taccode to the Konkani literary world made him one of the finest and dearest writers among Konkani readers. He touched every aspect of life in his writings and created his own way of expressing it with humor and satire. Kavita Trust always remembers him for his exceptional literary work."

In his introductory speech, Andrew L D'Souza, a known poet and Trustee of Kavita Trust, recalled the humorous nature of CGS and his literary association with his father and brother. He also praised CGS for his encouraging attitude towards young and upcoming writers.

Titus Noronha, poet and organizer, remembered CGS for his love of his native place and its people. He said, "CGS spent most of his life outside Taccode, but he regularly used his birthplace and its surroundings in his writings. He borrowed many typical and exclusive rural words for his works. His friendly nature and calmness made him an acceptable and approachable person to all. Apart from literature, he was a good organizer and skilled editor. We can't restrict CGS to a particular section and department. He was an all-rounder of the Konkani world."

Narrating the poetic life of CGS, Melwyn Rodrigues, founder of Kavita Trust, said, "CGS displayed his excellence in selecting words while writing poems. He always tried to fit them into a rhythmic frame. He conveyed his thoughts to readers with a shade of humor. But in reality, his poems were filled with criticism, revolt, and philosophy."

Danica, Jenwin Crasta, Eldon, Priyona, Jiya, Jianna, Alrisha, Ninisha, and Nishel recited some poems written by CGS. Silviya Sequeira, wife of CGS, was present on the dais.
