Udupi, Jun 6: "The Bhovi corporation corruption issue can be investigated only if we receive a legal complaint. If Goolihatti Shekar personally registers a complaint, then the case can be investigated, but it can only proceed upon filing of a complaint," stated Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara.
He further told media persons, "The resignation of Nagendra is solely his decision. No one can force him to resign; it is entirely up to him." Parameshwara informed that the Special Investigation Tribunal (SIT) had initiated an investigation into the bank fraud case. He added, "As the case involves bank fraud, it will automatically be handled by the CBI. Both the CBI and SIT are actively investigating the case."
Regarding the 'Go Back Lakshmi Hebbalkar' campaign, Parameshwara clarified, "The in-charge minister's role is primarily for the smooth flow of administration, not for political purposes." He emphasised the responsibility of party workers and in-charge party presidents for political activities during elections.
Reflecting on the BJP's performance in the Lok Sabha elections, Parameshwara noted, "The reduction in expected seats for the BJP suggests a shift in public sentiment." He acknowledged that while the Congress party's vote share had increased at both state and national levels, there was a need for a thorough review and introspection of the reasons for their electoral setback.
Despite the electoral setback for the Congress party, Parameshwara assured, "Schemes like the guarantees to eradicate poverty will continue to benefit the needy without hindering development." He emphasised the importance of strengthening the party in the coastal region.
Addressing concerns about rising crime rates, Parameshwara stated, "The legal system is functioning as usual, with murder cases being investigated under legal orders." He reassured the public, saying, "There have been no communal disturbances or other significant issues in the past year, indicating the stability of the legal system."
Parameshwara invited victims to freely approach investigative agencies for assistance and protection.
