Mangaluru, Jun 10: In connection with the altercation between two community groups in front of Boliyar Mosque, which led to the stabbing of two BJP workers on June 9, a case has been booked. Based on a complaint filed by P.K. Abdulla, President of Boliyar Jumma Masjid, a case has been registered against certain youths who allegedly shouted provocative slogans in front of the mosque on the night of June 9 at around 8:50 PM and abused individuals standing outside the mosque (Crime No - 81/2024 u/s 143, 147, 148, 153A, 504, 506, 149 IPC).
The accused in this case are Suresh, Vinay, Subhash, Ranjit, and Dhanajaya.
Meanwhile, five accused have been arrested in connection with the assault case (Crime No 80/2024). The arrested individuals are Mohd Shakir (28 years) s/o Abdul Razak, Abdul Razak (40 years) s/o Suleiman, Aboobakar Siddique (35 years) s/o Suleiman, Sawad (18 years) s/o Aboobakar, and Monu @ Hafeez (24 years) s/o Hamid.

Mangaluru, Jun 10: BJP and Hindu activists gheraoed the Konaje police station late on Sunday night, protesting against the perceived inaction of the police regarding the stabbing of two BJP workers in Boliyar.
The Boliyar gram samiti of the BJP had organized a victory rally from Boliyar to Dharmanagara to celebrate the swearing-in of the NDA government at the Centre. During the procession, a gang reportedly instructed the participants not to play DJ music near a mosque, leading to a verbal altercation.
Harish Poojary and his brother-in-law Nandan, both residents of Dharmanagara, were returning on their bike after the procession. They were waylaid by the gang and subsequently stabbed. The attackers fled the scene immediately after the incident.

District BJP president Satish Kumpala and leader Santhosh Rai Boliyar visited the Konaje police station late on Sunday night. Meanwhile, BJP workers gathered at the police station, raising slogans against the police. They accused the police of merely collecting evidence, including video footage of the altercation near Boliyar mosque, without taking any concrete action. They demanded the immediate arrest of the culprits. The police assured the BJP activists that they would arrest the accused soon, after which the protesters dispersed.
Following the stabbing incident, the police acted swiftly and took 10 individuals from the Boliyar vicinity into custody. It is reported that three of the detainees were directly involved in the stabbing.
Meanwhile, a CCTV footage of the verbal altercation during the victory procession in front of Boliyar mosque has surfaced. It shows BJP workers raising slogans near the mosque. Later, three BJP workers returned to the mosque area and chanted ‘Bolo Bharat Mata ki Jai’. Enraged by this, a group of youths from the mosque chased the BJP workers to Samadhan Bar in Boliyar, where a commotion ensued, culminating in the stabbing of the two BJP workers.
