Mangaluru, Jun 11: Four women tourists playing in the water at Ullal beach were swept away by the waves. While three were rescued by locals, one drowned. The women were from Andhra Pradesh.

The deceased is identified as Parimi Ratna Kumari (57), wife of P L Prasanna and a native of Sirilingapalli in Kondapura, Andhra Pradesh.

All four women were on the beach when a huge wave struck them, pulling them into the sea. Locals rushed to their rescue and brought all four women out of the water. Ratna Kumari was unconscious and was rushed to Deralakatte hospital, where she later succumbed.

It is learned that the five women had flown from Hyderabad to Mysuru on June 6. After sightseeing in Mysuru, they reached Kodagu in an Innova car on June 7. On June 9, they visited Subramanya temple, and on June 10, they took darshan of Lord Manjunatha in Dharmasthala before arriving at Ullal beach.

It is unfortunate that a life is lost due to ignorance or negligence. When people from land locked areas come to visit the sea shores, beaches they are not aware of the seriousness of the nature's fury. Also that they fail to understand and listen to the local people or even life guards. Sea is rough with high tides and large waves during monsoons. It is really sad and heart breaking. May her soul rest in peace we pray

RIP to P Ratna Kumari. Lack of education and knowledge. Every beach instruction board clearly mentioned regarding danger. But I think the group maybe Andha Bhaktas from Andhra Pradesh.

Waters beckon people and few get trapped unawares... Local people are helping a lot but inland travelers just cannot resist the deep dip... Always people must never venture in unknown waters and especially during monsoon waves are unpredictable... At least they can be with PPE like life vest... RIP to the departed soul...

Prayers are meant to help control your mind and give you positive feelings. They provide inner peace and strength but do not change the inevitable, like death. God will not save you from death. Our lives are shaped by our actions, and we are responsible for the reactions we receive. It is through our deeds, decisions, and efforts that we create our destiny and impact the world around us. Personal accountability and responsibility are key to navigating life's challenges and outcomes.

RIP! Heart wrenching incident!! Seas, rivers, and other water bodies should be compulsorily avoided during the monsoon season! Very ironic, they had just paid obeisance at two religious places!!

Already yellow alert is issue and it's monsoon season. Sea is rough and waves are fierce but some people never learn. Actually, some become crazy and try to play in high tides and meet the consequence. R.I.P.

Most people who live far away from the seas get mesmerized on seeing the seas and throw caution to the winds when enjoying in the waters not wary of sudden huge waves, which suck people inside into the deep waters!! Please note that this is a very personal and generic opinion!

It is very saddening to hear that one lady out of the four who ventured out to enjoy the feel of the beautiful waves lashing on d shores of d Ullal beach .It is necessary to take care especially during the monsoons when the sea is rough not to enter the sites where a warning sign is indicated.Take care that the rest do not meet with d same fate as one lady lost her life.Prevention is better than cure.*Enjoy d beauty of d waves from the shore itself.hores

Most of our people have the inherent tendency to ignore all sorts of warning signs be it billboards or verbal by the local people; only when tragedy strikes 😔 they come to their senses; numerous such tragedies happen across the country during the monsoons ....but still many people will venture out near water bodies and invite trouble!!
