Udupi, Jun 11: In a move that has garnered significant attention, Udupi district in-charge minister Laxmi Hebbalkar is set to visit the district on June 12, after a prolonged absence. This visit comes in the wake of substantial criticism from within her party workers for her lack of presence and involvement in the district's affairs, especially during the recent election period.

Hebbalkar, who had not been seen in the district since the election announcement, also abstained from participating in the election campaign. This absence has been a point of contention among Udupi Congress workers, many of whom felt abandoned during a crucial time. The discontent culminated in the initiation of a "Go Back" campaign against her, a clear sign of the rift within the party's local cadre.

Hebbalkar will arrive to district on Wednesday at 12 noon and will take a meeting of district level officers in district commissioner office, Manipal.

The minister's visit is seen as an attempt to bridge this gap and address the grievances of the local party workers and constituents.
