Bantwal, Jun 12: The decomposed body of a man, who had been living alone, was discovered in the bathroom of his house in Ajjibettu, BC Road. It is suspected that he may have collapsed while taking a bath.

The deceased has been identified as B. Kumar (62), the son of the late Eeshwara Karamberu, also of Ajjibettu.

Kumar had been residing alone in his house and had not been seen for the past two days, leading to concern among the locals.

On the night of June 10, a foul odour emanating from Kumar's house alarmed the neighbours, prompting them to contact the police. The police responded quickly, arriving at the scene and breaking down the door to gain entry. Inside, they found Kumar’s body in an advanced state of decomposition in the bathroom.

The body was subsequently taken to the Bantwal government hospital, where a post-mortem examination was conducted. The results of the examination are pending. A case has been registered at the Bantwal town police station, and further investigations are ongoing.
