Mangaluru/Udupi, Jun 17: The monsoon is expected to intensify from Monday in the coastal region, according to information provided by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). There is also a possibility of high-velocity winds.
Heavy rains are expected over the next five days in various parts of the coastal districts. On June 19 and 20, some areas of the Dakshina Kannada district are predicted to receive substantial amounts of rain, as per the IMD.
In both the Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts, moderate rains were observed on Sunday. Bantwal and nearby areas experienced good rainfall in the afternoon. For the rest of the day, the weather alternated between sunshine and cloudy conditions. There were no reports of rain in the city of Mangaluru on Sunday.
The highest temperature recorded in Mangaluru was 30°C, while the minimum was 24°C.
