Mangaluru, Jun 21: St Aloysius Gonzaga School celebrated Bakrid, also known as Eid-ul-Adha, with great enthusiasm and cultural harmony on June 18.
Nazleen Kaiser, proud parent of Mohammed Ayaan Hussain for Class XII and Zeba Mumtaz of Class IX A graced the programme of Classes VI to XII, as the chief guest.
Addressing the students, she said that Eid-ul-Adha symbolizes the profound love and trust that believers have in God, exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim's willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to God's command.
Classes I to V celebrated the festival in a special assembly which was graced by Dr Shabnam KP, parent of Mahammed Zayd of class IV. She highlighted that the essence of Bakrid is to overcome evil with good through unwavering faith in God.
The principal, Fr Melwyn Anil Lobo SJ in his address, praised the students' efforts and reiterated the importance of understanding and respecting diverse cultural traditions.
The historical and religious significance of Bakrid was presented through a cultural programme. Vice-principal Laurel D’Souza and Aparna Suresh were present.
The celebration of Bakrid at St Aloysius Gonzaga School not only provided a platform for cultural expression but also reinforced the values of unity and empathy among the school community.
