Udupi, Jun 21: “Practicing yoga is essential for building a healthy society,” said Yashpal Suvarna, MLA Udupi.

Yashpal Suvarna, MLA, inaugurated the International Yoga Day celebration held at the Shesha Shayana Sabha Bhavan organised by Udupi district BJP and BJP city and rural units.

In his inaugural note he said, “The International Yoga day celebration, under the slogan ‘Yoga for us and society’, is not just limited to one day, but should be an integral part of our daily lives. In order to achieve aspirations and desires in life, good health is crucial. In this context, along with disciplined lifestyle, yoga practice contributes significantly.”

Speaking about the International Yoga Day, Yashpal Suvarna said, “In 2014, Prime Minister Narendra Modi proposed the idea of observing International day of Yoga at the United Nations. As a result, with the support of 177 countries, including India, other nations have been celebrating International Day on June 21 annually for the past 10 years, marking it as a historic record of global participation.”

Nagaraj Shet, a yoga instructor at the Patanjali Yoga Education Center in Udupi, provided insight about Yoga and conducted a yoga practice session.

K Uday Kumar Shetty, in-charge BJP Mangaluru region, Mattar Rathnakar Hegde, former district president, Shilpa G Suvarna, chief secretary, State Mahila Morcha, district conveners of Yoga day, Vijay Kumar Udyavar, Shivakumar Ambalpady, Girish M Anchan, Vijay Kodavoor, President district OBC Morcha, and others were present.
