Udupi: Car crashes into bus on highway, woman seriously injured

Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (MS)

Udupi, Jun 22: A private bus that suddenly stopped on the highway without entering the service road caused a serious accident in which a car crashed into the rear of the bus. The accident resulted in severe injuries to Pushpalatha Acharya (56), a resident of Mangaladevi.

The bus, traveling from Mangaluru to Udupi, came to an abrupt halt without giving any signal or indication. The car following the bus, carrying three people including Pushpalatha, her daughter, and a relative, collided with the bus from behind. Pushpalatha, who was seated in the front passenger seat, sustained severe injuries to her hands, legs, and nose. She was given first aid in Padubidri before being rushed to a private hospital in Mangaluru.

Padubidri police visited the scene and have registered a case. Despite the availability of a service road, many express buses traveling between Mangaluru and Udupi tend to stop directly on the highway, posing a significant hazard to other motorists.

The private bus lobby is a nuisance in the twin districts of DK and Udupi. The private bus mafia should be abolished. The shameless drivers to collect passengers will stop the bus if a person just sway's his or her hand. Private city/service/express should be totally abolished from the two districts, only then our roads will be safe. The ladies will be the happiest if we have Government buses in the district. Like Hasan district which have only Government buses.

Kujumaji; I'm seeing the herculean efforts you are putting in to spread the truth of what is going on in reality as opposed to that being depicted in main stream media! BTW; we are much below in ranking than the third world in fatal RTAs; hordes of people perish every day in RTAs 🙏🙏

Whats going to happen now is the same driver will go to another bus and drive as dadali till this bus is repaired. In our country tax payers are jokers. We pay income taz and a thousand other kind of taxes for literally everything we buy ir public service we use and in turn get treated like garbage. These bus drivers show total disregard to their own passengers pedestrians and other smaller vehicles and tue stupid reason is time keeping which tue general public never asked for. While the right lane is reserved for fast moving trucks going on the fast track. The private bus drivers dont even hesitate using all vulgar language during an argument not bothering if there are women and kids around them. The drivers should understand one fact that the moment they get down from the seat they lose their identity. They should never forget they have families too. But alas our system has failed to get them on a disciplinary leash and in turn they have become erratic and unpredictable. They know they are invincible in this country.

Though the bus driver may be partly responsible in this accident., the main fault is of the car driver. Because he had failed to keep a safe distance from the bus , depending on his speed. Most of the accidents are happening due to the over speed .

These killer private buses have and are sniffing out innocent lives almost everyday; high time this public nuisance is gotten rid off and substituted by a civic operated transportation on the lines of BEST in Mumbai or that in Bangalore; till then motorists and pedestrians will be at high risk!!
