Mangaluru: 29th Poetica Kavigoshti held; free books, stationery, toys distributed to children

Mangaluru, Jun 28: The 29th Poetica Kavigoshti was held on June 1 along with the distribution of free books, stationary and toys to school children at Little Flower Higher Primary School, Kinnigoli.

The programme commenced with a prayer song. The school headmistress invited the guests of the day Dr Sr Lily Pereira, provincial superior of Mangalore province and school convenor, Naveen Pereira Surathkal, Sr Premalatha, Sr Liza BS, the school head teacher on to the dais. Later, the headmistress of primary school Sr Monica Rebello, welcomed the guests. After the inauguration through lighting of the lamp, the provincial superior of Mangalore province, Dr Sr Lilly Pereira, was felicitated with a shawl and flowers.

Naveen Pereira Surathkal, admin of Poetica Group, who took the initiative to gather donations from various donors and donated books along with toys to students in order to empower their learning, was honoured. Naveen Pereira Surathkal, admin of Poetica, explained the purpose of the programme and said that seeing the happiness on children's faces is like seeing heaven.

A poetry recital was held under the moderation of Dr Flavia Castelino, Manipal. Poems were recited by George Ligory D'Souza Surathkal, Jossy Pinto Kinnigoli, Valerian Moras Taccode, Stanislaus D'Souza Kirem, Renisha D'Souza Kateel and Naveen Pereira Surathkal.

Books and toys were distributed to students. Dr Sr Lily Pereira who presided over the programme, narrated a short story with the message that God blesses the benefactors without seeking reciprocation.

Teacher Yashodhara proposed the vote of thanks. Seeing the joy on the faces of the children who were running around holding the toys filled the hearts of the crowd.
