Beltangady: Car hits road divider, driver killed

Beltangady, Jun 29: A car collided with a road divider near Belal Cross on Ujire College Road early Saturday June 29 morning after the driver lost control of the vehicle. The seriously injured driver succumbed to his injuries while being transported to the hospital. The car was completely mangled due to the impact of the crash.

The deceased is identified as Prajwal Nayak, a resident of Beltangady.

Prajwal was initially taken to a private hospital in Ujire immediately after the crash and was later shifted to Mangaluru. However, he did not survive the journey.

The exact cause of the mishap is unknown. The car was badly damaged, and street lights were uprooted due to the speed at which the vehicle struck the poles.

    RIP 🙏!! This car could be considered one of the safest on our roads with seven airbags and speed beeper when speed exceeds 80, and again beyond 100kmph; powerful ABS; considering the condition of this car, and the poles having gotten uprooted one can imagine the speed at which it was cruising, either dozed, got a sudden attack or ???; the manufacturer might be definitely compromising on quality here vis a vis those being manufactured in advanced nations with very strict safety standards, for obvious reasons!!

    just because you are driving safest car, you cant be ignorant about safety and cant be careless. Any car brand in the world, doest give guarantee of life, if you overspeed. RIP

    I am surprised to see the extent of damage to the Mercedes GLA 220. Imagine the speed of that car. Cause of the damage is over speed .... Mangalore drivers rarely practice defensive driving.

    Shall we call this twist of fate or avoidable tragedy?... Most times we dive into conclusions... He may well have been at very high speed looking at the brand of his car... However when time calls even the best German car cannot protect lives... RIP to the departed soul....
