Bantwal: Viral video claiming leopard captures crocodile is false, say forest officials

Daijiworld Media Network – Bantwal (MS)

Bantwal, Jul 1: A video claiming to show a leopard catching a crocodile in a local river has gone viral on social media. However, forest department officials have clarified that this is false information.

Upon closer inspection, the animal in the video, which captures the crocodile, has a skin pattern different from that of a leopard. It closely resembles a jaguar, a species native to South America. Jaguars are known to hunt crocodiles along riverbanks, leading officials to conclude that the scene depicted in the video does not occur in India.

The video has been widely circulated on social media for several days, prompting warnings for the public to avoid fishing in Bantwal's rivers due to supposed crocodile presence. The forest department has issued a clarification to dispel these rumours.

It wont make any difference...leopards of different origin are found wandering in twin districts without any fear. There population increased in manifold after eating tamed dogs. Looks like they widen there region reached upto Hebri to Perdoor to Hiraidka to Madaga/Pareeka now entered even to Herga in Parkala are now even in Manipal. Belthangady to Kundapur it's a common thing are seen from long. What's the use to any department as state themselves not reserved any budget for said purposes separately to tackle such matter. Government themselves is in jeopardy even to arrange funds for guarantees. Leave it to God if Leopard encountered on your way just say...Om Shanthi Shanthi...three times with your eyes closed. What else we expect from this Government..??
