Bengaluru, Jul 7: The High Court of Karnataka has ordered an investigation into former minister Murugesh Nirani concerning an alleged recruitment scam dating from 2011 to 2015 in the marketing, advertisement, and publicity department of the Industries department. This directive follows a petition by Nirani seeking scrutiny into the allegations raised by social worker T J Abraham.
Justice S Dikshit, presiding over a single-member bench, conducted an inquiry into Nirani's plea. The special magistrate court had previously instructed the High Grounds police of Bengaluru to conduct an investigation.
While allowing the investigation to proceed, the High Court of Karnataka restrained the police from arresting Nirani if he cooperates with the investigation process.

Ajay Kadakola, Nirani's lawyer, defended his client's innocence, stating, "Nirani did not give any illegal permission to hold a scam in recruitment. Even then, a complaint is registered against him with ulterior motive."
He further argued, "Without considering the real facts of the case, the subordinate court has ordered an investigation. This is illegal. Private complaints and the inquiries in that regard by the subordinate court should be quashed."
The case involves both Nirani and the complainant, T J Abraham. The court has issued notices to both parties, indicating that legal proceedings will continue.
Additional public prosecutor B N Jagadish represented the prosecution in the proceedings.
