Mangaluru, Jul 10: In a significant development, an inspector from Assaigoli KSRP in the Konaje police station jurisdiction has been caught by the Lokayukta for accepting bribes from junior officers in exchange for duty assignments.
KSRP Inspector Mohammad Aaris was caught red-handed by the Lokayukta while accepting a bribe. He had been demanding bribes from junior police officers for assigning them guest house duties. Aaris had been demanding Rs 6,000 per month for assigning guest house duties to KSRP personnel.
On Wednesday, July 10, he was trapped by the Lokayukta while accepting Rs 18,000 in bribes. Inspector Mohammad Aaris is a resident of Halepet in Ujire village of Beltangady taluk.
The operation was led by Lokayukta SP Nataraj and DySP Chelvaraj.
