Kundapur, Jul 12: A car speeding and attempting to brake near a barricade lost control and overturned into a mini truck on Friday evening on National Highway 66 in front of Beejadi Cross, near Dhanalakshmi Hardware.

In the incident, a Hyundai i10 car flipped four times and collided with a 407 lorry on the service road, coming to rest upside down. Fortunately, no one was injured in the accident.

The driver of the speeding car suddenly braked upon seeing the barricade. According to the law, placing barricades on national highways is not allowed. However, recently, those seeking publicity have been illegally installing advertisement barricades, leading to an increase in accidents, as alleged by locals.

Indian Roads and Highways are a death trap, planned unscientifically and poorly executed (contractors in connivance with Bureaucrats / politicians only interested in raking in the moolah). High time we focused on infrastructure development rather than religious polarisation / spewing hatred. Sadly, we elect people whose agenda hasn’t helped.
