Kundapur, Jul 13: A huge tree was uprooted by high-velocity winds at Santhoshnagar in Hemmady on Saturday, causing significant damage to several electricity poles and blocking the road.
A school bus narrowly escaped a major tragedy, passing just seconds before the tree fell.
Mescom personnel quickly arrived at the scene and are working to repair the damaged electricity lines and erect new poles.
Panchayat representatives are also engaged in clearing the tree to restore traffic flow on the road.
