Mangaluru/Bengaluru, Jul 16: Nayaks Times, a renowned clock-making company from Mangaluru, has achieved a significant milestone by contributing its exquisite clocks to the newly renovated Karnataka Assembly. The clocks were installed with great pride and honour to mark the inauguration of the Monsoon Session.

The chief minister of Karnataka, Siddaramaiah, and Assembly Speaker, U T Khader, lauded the craftsmanship and legacy of Nayaks Times and honoured the managing partner in a special ceremony.

Siddhanth Nayak, the managing partner of Nayaks Times, has been instrumental in this project. His company, which has been making clocks for three generations, is known for its precision and artistry along the coast as well as the Malnad region. Siddhanth was recognized by the chief minister and speaker for his contributions, marking a momentous occasion for the Nayak family and their illustrious legacy.

In addition to his role at Nayaks Times, Siddhanth Nayak also leads ‘The Mighty Oak’, a newly established furniture manufacturer that provided the intricate woodwork for the assembly clocks. Speaker U T Khader, had previously visited the Nayaks Times factory and was profoundly impressed by the meticulous clock-making process. His admiration for the company's craftsmanship led to the decision to install Nayaks Times clocks in the renovated assembly.

The assembly now features six of these magnificent clocks prominently. Pillars inside the assembly display four clocks, while two smaller clocks adorn the wooden frame at the assembly entrance and exit. The assembly houses two clocks that are 18 inches in diameter and two clocks that are 24 inches in diameter, while the two clocks at the entrance and exit measure 12 inches each.

These analogue clocks are uniquely designed with time markings in Kannada, enhancing their cultural significance. They are framed in captivating golden frames and surrounded by intricate wooden carvings of the mythical 'Gandaberunda’, the legendary two-headed bird. This blend of traditional artistry and functional elegance highlights the exceptional skills of Nayaks Times and The Mighty Oak.

Following his honouring ceremony, Siddhanth said, "I am deeply honoured and excited to see Nayaks Times' clocks gracing the Karnataka Assembly. This is a monumental moment for our family business, which has been crafting timepieces for three generations. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to chief minister Siddaramaiah and Speaker U T Khader for their support and recognition of our craftsmanship. Their faith in our work inspires us to continue preserving the rich heritage of Karnataka through our creations. We are thrilled to contribute to the assembly's renovation and proud to see our clocks become a part of this historic institution."

Nayaks Times has also contributed to the heritage of Mangaluru, with their clocks prominently featured on the city's iconic clock tower, apart from adorning other privately owned buildings. The installation of their clocks in the Karnataka Assembly further solidifies their reputation as master craftsmen and custodians of time.

The collaboration between Nayaks Times and The Mighty Oak showcases the harmonious blend of tradition and innovation, reflecting Karnataka's rich cultural heritage. As the assembly opened its proceedings for the Monsoon Session on July 15, these remarkable clocks will not only remind legislators about the importance of time but also help them admire the elegance of coastal Karnataka’s very own clock manufacturers.
