Kundapur, Jul 16: A domestic dispute between a husband and wife in Kandlauru village, Kundapur taluk, culminated in tragedy when the husband took his own life. The deceased has been identified as Harish Bovi (40), a resident of the Anganwadi area in Kalavara village.
Harish, a professional photographer, had reportedly been facing serious personal issues recently. He often had arguments with his wife. On Tuesday morning, an altercation escalated to the point where Harish allegedly attempted to push his wife into a well. Distressed, his wife filed a complaint at the Kandlauru police station.
The police summoned the couple to the station for mediation and, after resolving the issue, sent them back in an auto-rickshaw. However, near the Kandlauru bridge, Harish asked the driver to slow down, and then he jumped into the Varahi river from the bridge.
Upon receiving the information, local residents, police, firefighters, and divers launched a search operation for Harish. Unfortunately, heavy rain and the swelling river hindered their efforts, and Harish could not be found. He leaves behind two daughters, the elder one in third grade and the younger one attending Anganwadi.
A missing persons case has been registered at the Kandlauru police station, and the search operation is ongoing.
