Bengaluru, Jul 19: Labelling BJP leaders as ‘fathers of corruption’, Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar on Friday said the previous BJP regimes under B S Yediyurapa and Basavaraj Bommai had “looted”f over Rs 300 crore from various departments and promised probes into them.

Speaking to reporters at Vidhana Soudha, he said, “During the previous Yediyurappa and Bommai government, there were scams in various departments amounting to Rs 300 crore. We will reveal the details in the House.”

Listing out the scams during Yediyurappa and Bommai regimes, he said: “Rs 87 crore from Bhovi Development Corporation, Rs 47 crore from APMC, Rs 22 crore from Disabled Welfare department, Rs 5 crore from Ambedkar Development Corporation, Rs 47 crore from Devaraj Urs Development Corporation and Rs 10 crore from KSPCB and KIADB had been illegally transferred to Salem in Tamil Nadu.”

Asked if the government would investigate these scams, he said: “We will certainly investigate this. We will reveal the details in the House as we want everything to be recorded. We will tell people the ministers, corporation chairmen and chief ministers involved in these scams.”

He claimed that the BJP leader Basanagouda Patil Yatnal had said that the Chief minister’s post and minister’s post costs Rs 2,500 crore and Rs 100 crore respectively.

Another BJP leader Goolihatti Shekar had spoken about corruption in Bhovi Development Corporation. But the BJP did not investigate it, he added.

Shivakumar alleged that the BJP deliberately did not allow debates in the House in cases where the investigations are still on-going, but we allowed a debate in the House keeping in mind upholding the democratic principles. We don’t want to protect any minister, MLA or an officer if guilty, he said

“We have formed an SIT to investigate transfer of Rs 86 crore to Telangana in the Valmiki Development Corporation case. The SIT has already recovered Rs 36 crore,” he said.

“A bank official has sanctioned crores of loans in a single day. Can we make the Union Finance minister responsible for it?’’ he asked.

Shivakumar alleged that the opposition BJP had deliberately created ruckus in the House to cover up their corruption.

“The BJP did not have the patience to listen to the government’s response to their allegations. They created ruckus in the House without allowing the Chief minister to respond. They are scared that their corruption would be exposed if they let the House function smoothly,” he said.

“The previous BJP government has covered up many scams and has tried to cover up many others. The Chief minister has exposed their scams such as Bit coin scam, Parashurama theme park scam, Gangakalyana scam, PSI scam, etc. Many documents have been found in the residence of Yediyurappa’s PA Umesh with regards to illegal transfer of Rs 750 crore and other scams of the BJP government. Former BJP minister Eshwarappa too had lodged a complaint against Yediyurappa with the Governor,” he said.

Investigations are on regarding the scams during BJP rule. The BJP government did not hand over the Guru Raghavendra Cooperative Bank scam amounting to thousands of crores to the CBI. We will discuss investigating that scam as well,” he said.

Asked why the government has come forward to investigate scams during the BJP tenure after they raised corruption issues in Congress government, he said.
