Kundapur, Jul 20: Thousands of passengers who rely on road transport to travel between Bengaluru and Kundapur have faced significant inconvenience due to road and ghat closures caused by incessant rains and landslides.

In response, MP Kota Srinivas Poojary submitted an appeal to initiate a special night train from Bengaluru to Kundapur via Padil. The railway ministry has positively responded to this appeal. Consequently, a special link train will be available for three days between Mangaluru and Madgaon Junction for the Bengaluru-Mangaluru train. Additionally, the railway department has agreed to establish a connecting train for these routes via the Goa-Kundapur corridor.

The Railway Ministry's response to MP Kota Srinivas Poojary's appeal includes a separate link rail to address delays at the Mangaluru Junction caused by engine changes and water refilling. Soon, the Bengaluru-Mangaluru special train will extend to Goa via Kundapur.

Ganesh Puthran, president of the Kundapur Train Passengers’ Welfare Committee, explained the passengers' difficulties to MP Poojary. Kota promptly addressed the issue with state railway minister Somanna, appealing for a link train and special train between Bengaluru and Karwar via the Padil bypass, especially during the monsoon season when problems are more severe. The public has widely appreciated the efforts of the Kundapur Railway Passengers’ Association.
