Mangaluru: FMCI hosts ‘QUARTZ’ national conference for quality implementers in healthcare

Mangaluru, Jul 20: The Father Muller Charitable Institutions (FMCI) on Saturday July 20 inaugurated the national-level conference titled ‘QUARTZ: Quality Approach in Reaching the Zenith’. The event, aimed at quality implementers in healthcare, took place at the Muller Mini Hall within the Father Muller Convention Center.

Organized by the department of quality control at Father Muller Medical College Hospital in collaboration with the department of hospital administration at Father Muller College of Allied Health Sciences, the conference attracted prominent figures in the healthcare sector.

The inaugural ceremony commenced with a welcome speech by Dr Helen Gnanakalanjiam, chief quality manager and organizing president of the event.

Dr Deepak Singla, medical director of the Maharaja Agrasen Group of Hospitals, graced the event as the chief guest. In his address, Dr Singla highlighted the centrality of competence in healthcare delivery and praised India’s renowned healthcare standards. He gave a message, “Competence is at the heart of healthcare delivery, and in India, we are famous for this. Chasing quality leads to competence. We must rise to the occasion when opportunities arise, or we risk stagnation."

Fr Richard Aloysius Coelho, director of FMCI, also spoke at the event, underscoring the critical role of quality in all aspects of life. He remarked, "Without quality, life becomes difficult. Just as success is built on quality, so should our lives and work be. Quality care ensures patient satisfaction and time efficiency. At FMCI, we strive to provide the best quality service to all, including the poorest, valuing every life over monetary gain."

The event saw the participation of several dignitaries, including Fr Ajith B Menezes administrator Father Muller Medical College; Fr George Jeevan Sequeira administrator Father Muller Medical College Hospital; Fr Nelson Dheeraj Pais administrator of Father Muller homeopathic production division and former assistant administrator of Father Muller Medical College Hospital; and Dr Hilda D’Souza, principal of Father Muller College of Allied Health Sciences.

The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks by Chitra Yathindra, quality control manager and organizing secretary of the conference. Dr Archana Bhat from the department of general medicine efficiently emceed the event.

QUARTZ promises to be a significant step forward in enhancing the quality of healthcare delivery, bringing together experts and implementers to share knowledge and best practices.
