Moodbidri, Jul 21: Carmel School Moodbidri buzzed with excitement as young learners from LKG to Grade 3, along with their teachers, celebrated 'Green Day' and 'Vanamahotsava' on July 18 with great zeal and enthusiasm. The vibrant spirit of eco-friendliness was evident as everyone arrived in beautiful green attires, transforming the school into a verdant paradise.

The classrooms and corridors were adorned with green balloons and objects, creating a lively and festive environment. This visual transformation not only brightened up the space but also set the tone for the day's activities, emphasising the significance of greenery and nature.

Throughout the day, various activities were organised, class teachers led sessions where children expressed their artistic talents through fingerprint and handprint art.

In a heart-warming initiative, children under the guidance of their teachers, planted saplings in the school garden. This activity symbolised growth and the importance of nurturing nature, leaving a lasting impression on the young minds about their role in environmental conservation.

Each classroom featured a "Green Colour Corner," showcasing various green objects like apples, chilies, brinjals, capsicums, cucumbers, and trees. This interactive space allowed children to explore and learn about the significance of the colour green in their everyday lives. Children brought flowers, fruits, vegetables, and grains from their gardens, which were used in various activities.

Craft activities using leaves and other natural materials, such as preparing flowers using straws, creating apple outlines with avocado impressions, making carrot outlines with ladyfinger impressions, and designing tree outlines with green leaves. Teachers taught rhymes and songs about fruits, vegetables, flowers, and the colour green, making the learning process enjoyable and memorable. These songs helped reinforce the day's themes in a fun and engaging manner.

Classrooms and notice boards were decorated with green items, and children brought green toys, eatables, fruits, and salads.

Teachers demonstrated the importance of planting saplings and sowing seeds. Children actively participated by planting saplings, sowing seeds, adding mud, and watering the plants. This hands-on experience provided them with valuable lessons in environmental stewardship.

Some children dressed up as vegetables, added a touch of playful learning to the event. Students crafted animals using chart paper, demonstrating their artistic skills and understanding of different animal forms. Students prepared vegetable models on charts and presented them to their classmates, discussing their nutritional benefits, uses in cooking, and interesting facts. This activity not only boosted their confidence in public speaking but also enhanced their knowledge about different vegetables.

Using green leaves, students created stunning models of birds, animals, and flowers on charts, sharing small pieces of information about their creations. Green craft paper cutting activities included creating models of frogs, caterpillars, and birds.

Students showcased their creativity by bringing garlands made from various vegetables, highlighting the students' innovative approach to combining nature and art.
