Mangaluru, Jul 21: Residents of KPT and Padua in city have expressed their frustration with authorities and political parties over the deteriorating conditions of roads and bus stops in their area. They demand clean and functional bus stops, as well as pothole-free roads and footpaths.
The road from KPT to Padva is essential for commuters in Mangaluru, but its condition has been worsening day by day. Residents attribute this to pure negligence from the concerned authorities and politicians, who show little interest in solving the problems faced by ordinary citizens.
A resident of Padua said, "The bus stop was newly built under the Mangaluru Smart City project, but it was never fully functional. Now, it is mainly used by homeless people and drunkards, making it difficult for women to even stand there during heavy rain. Many college-going girls are mistreated by drunkards, which is really embarrassing. Such drunkards should be dealt with strict actions."
A biker added, "The roads are small and overcrowded. During peak hours, city buses occupy most of the road, forcing bikes and other vehicles onto the footpath. The footpath is completely destroyed with craters filled with rainwater, making it dangerous for bikers, especially during rainy nights."
A student highlighted, "The bus stop is always dirty and is often used by drunkards. This bus stop could have been placed where it would serve a better purpose. The roads and footpaths are completely damaged, and we get scared while driving since this is a highway. Lorries and other big vehicles do not see Scooty and other small vehicles, making it difficult for us to ride. If this road is closed for repairs, it will create many problems for daily commuters, especially for students whose school or college is on the way."
Residents are calling for immediate action to address these issues and improve the conditions of roads and bus stops in the area.
